Since I have been using make up brushes I have always found washing them such a chore. I really should wash them more than I actually do, but no-ones perfect. and to be honest who has the time every week to wash make up brushes?
I most definitely start with my eye brushes first, one because they're easy and two because it easies me into actually washing them, if I was to start with my face brushes I would honestly give up half way through.
I use baby shampoo on my brushes, and it's great to clean them and keep the brush heads soft. I normally use a big towel, but for this purpose I used kitchen towel. I dip the brush in the water only so far so that water doesn't go into the metal and ruins the glue. I then get a big of shampoo on the brush and swirl it on the towel to rub out the old make up left on the brush, I dip in the water again and repeat the shampooing process until all the make up has left the brush. Once I think the make up is all gone, I then use running water to make sure all the last bits of shampoo and dirt has left the brush, then I lie the brush on its side on a big bit of kitchen towel over night for them to dry naturally. Make sure you do this, as lying your brush up right with water on them can cause the brush glue to weaken and cause the bristles to fall out.
I then repeat the process on all my other dirty brushes.
I'm actually looking for a spot cleaner for my eye brushes as I probably use them the most and don't have as many as I would like so I'm constantly having to use the same ones, so spot cleaning them would make my life a lot easier.
So if anyone has any ideas please tweet me
