On Thursday the 8th of September, I was kindly invited to an event with French Connection through a girl I went to college with. I thought this would be the most perfect opportunity to go and see what the store had to offer. As you guys know I have a love for styling, so this was like heaven for me.
The event itself was very chilled and relaxed, there was a harpist supplying the music and girls were handing out Prosecco and Fruit cider at the door, and that is always a nice touch. The overall appearance of the store was very chic and clean looking, and all the clothes were well spread out on wracks and tables for easy viewing with only a few of each thing, which is a bonus for me as I am not one for raking through clothes just to find one item.
The customer service in the store was perfect, they were so genuinely pleasant and always making sure your experience in the store is a nice one, they made it very easy to ask them for help and thats not something I would usually do.
French Connection has never really been a store I would shop in, and I have no idea why not aha. Their pieces for this season are 100% my style, oversized jumpers, baggy coats, ankle boots and structured bags..everything seem to have my name on them but unfortunately I'm not a millionaire.
I was very fond of this camel coloured cardigan which I will be looking for online because I really think I need it in my life..as I do with many clothing items I suppose.
The way the store was very minimum, is so professional to me and very high end, which is probably why I circled the store so many times just eyeing everything up.
A lot of the pieces work amazingly together and creating all these different textures when layered together, Like these leather trousers and knitted jumper for example, these are very on trend for A/W but then again what big jumper isn't? You just need to the right one, and finding out your own silhouette.
This item is a lot different than what I would normally go for, but there was just something about it that I just couldn't keep my eyes off, I do think it must have been the pleat detailing, which gives me another aspect of texture to fit into the rest of the pieces. And I am all for it!
Jeans and an Oversized coat in Autumn and Winter are just staples in your wardrobe, and these are pieces are can last you for more than one year so it is a good incentive to spend more on key pieces than it is on the short term, because trends come and go but basic silhouettes and shapes are always here to stay. Same with colours, and thats what I liked about this collection as all the colours are very autumnal but I could probably use next year and not worry that I had got it a year before, whereas Primark and other high street stores focus too much on trends and not on basics. And if you need some, head to French Connection, it is well worth a look!
Would also like to say thanks to one of my good friends for coming with me to my first event and being able to help me with taking some pictures for this post. You are a wee star!
